Psalm 119:97, “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” Psalm 119:165, “Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.” (13) Therefore, did what is good cause my death? Absolutely not! On the contrary, sin, in order to be recognized as sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment sin might become sinful beyond measure.” – Romans 7:9-13. (12) So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good. (11) For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me. Paul ~ “(9) Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life (10) and I died. Paul heard it this way according to his own admission. The legalistic heard the law as a command from the outside which condemned. Remember how we have seen this in times past. NOW, that same word is not in letter, but in Spirit! “The letter of the Law kills but the Spirit of the Law gives LIFE!” Only, under the Old Covenant, it was a “to do” list based upon a comparison between ‘Who God is’ as Our Creator and ‘who we were’ as creatures fallen from His image. The word we are to be doers of is the same as in the law of Moses. Last week we learned that The Perfect law of Freedom is the Spirit’s law of Life in Jesus! (25) But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts–this person will be blessed in what he does.” (23) Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror (24) for he looks at himself, goes away, and right away forgets what kind of man he was. “(22) But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. We need to be eager to hear, prepared to hear, ready to hear, prompt and intentional in hearing!

You will recall that James told us to be QUICK to hear the words of Jesus.
